Sudhir Choudhrie was born in the city of Delhi in northern India, at the end of the British Raj. He spent his childhood living in different parts of India, most notably in Hyderabad and Mumbai (as Mumbai is now known). Choudhrie’s family was one of the founding families of Hyderabad and made significant contributions to society.
He then attended the Harvard Business School, where he received his MBA. After that he worked for R.H. Macy & Co., Inc, focusing on the sourcing of raw materials in South Asia. Sudhir Choudhrie worked there for 25 years and rose to become Managing Director. During his time there, he was actively involved in client relationship management, business development, and supporting sales and marketing strategy. He was instrumental in growing Hambros to a 300 million pound asset bank.
Sudhir Choudhrie is a business partner to several of the world’s most prestigious companies such as Warburg Pincus, Centre Point Limited, Viacom, AOL and Liberty Global. He has worked as an economic advisor in the United Kingdom and India.
He has also held a position as the Chairman of the Press Council of India, Chairman of the Royal Television Society, Chairman of the Press Council of England, and the President of the Commonwealth Press Union. Choudhrie has been an active member of the Society of Motoring Writers since 1968. He is an accomplished artist, actor, and business leader.
Sudhir Choudhrie studied Economics at Delhi University, and later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California. In the 1970’s, Choudhrie co-founded a pioneering firm focused on business consulting and the trading of commodity futures and options on the NSE, India’s first and foremost stock exchange.
Sudhir experience in diverse industries, coupled with his passion for the cause of humanitarianism, has helped him establish numerous philanthropic initiatives.
