Good health is the best gift one can receive from his creator. Sudhir Choudhrie, a globally renowned philanthropist and entrepreneur living in London, was among the unlucky lot for his first fifty years. He had chronic heart disease that was diagnosed when he was eight years old. During that period, his heart used to skip due to the presence of a leaking valve. Though health issues became his daily plate, Sudhir stayed determined and never lost focus towards attaining a bright future. He thus worked hard in high school and managed to pass very well in the end exams, earning himself a slot at Delhi University in his home country, India. For his higher studies, Sudhir Choudhrie did economics that has helped him develop and grow his entrepreneurial talent. Before venturing into entrepreneurship, Sudhir Choudhrie worked at a real estate family business, gaining the basics he needed to ease the journey ahead of him. In 1975, Sudhir resigned from the family business, setting up his own company in the export sector: Magnum Trading Company Ltd. Twenty years later, after making a name for himself in the business world, Sudhir Choudhrie started diversifying his portfolio by entering into partnership deals including the one with Taj Hotels and Resorts and Air Deccan.
Sudhir Choudhrie achieved all these accomplishments still with severe heart problems, proving to be an extraordinary being. He lived with serious heart complications for forty-plus years since it was hard to find a compatible heart because, on top of the leaking valve, he had a titin gene mutation. Luckily, when he had only a few hours to live, an American family donated their son’s heart, giving Sudhir Choudhrie a second chance to live.
After he recovered, Sudhir started investing heavily in causes that impact lives through his family’s charitable organization to show gratitude to the community. His Philanthropy continues to touch the international community, especially in the USA (where the transplant took place), UK (his current home), and India (where his story began back in 1949).
